Happening being revived after hiatus! November 16-18, 2012

For youth in 9th through 12th grade
and adults who work with youth.

What are some new things Happening with Happening?
Erin Wolf (St. Paul’s, Plymouth) has agreed to serve as Happening Weekend Coordinator for the next two years to assist Pastor Diane Murray, Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator in organizing and facilitating the Happening weekends.

What is Happening?
A Christian experience for youth in grades 9-12 and adults who work with youth. The weekend is not a retreat, but a one-time, unique experience of God. The weekend is led by a group of young people who have already attended Happening and adults who also serve. Candidates hear talks on many subjects then discuss them in small groups. The weekend also has singing, fellowship, surprises, fun and friendship. Individuals are given the chance to discover more about themselves, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, their families and their world.

Purpose?
Happening looks at who Jesus is, examines faith, and helps a young person see God as a part of everyday life which can transform life at home, school and in the world. This encounter with Jesus Christ helps young people learn about being disciples. Many young people say Happening was a turning point in their life and encouraged them in their participation in local congregations, the church and the world.

Where?
The next Happening weekend is in the Wausau area. It begins with registration on Friday at 7:00 pm. Dinner should be eaten before arriving. The weekend ends Sunday afternoon with a celebration service starting at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to attend the services. Candidates must attend the entire weekend.

Cost?
The $35 fee includes Saturday and Sunday meals, snacks, T-shirt and other program costs. Cost should not prevent you from attending, so check with your congregation for assistance.

How do I register
Registration details will be available soon. A confirmation letter will be sent about two weeks before the weekend. Your Application and fee must be received at least two weeks prior to the Happening.

WHAT TO BRING

• Sleeping bag/blanket & pillow
• Sleeping pad/air mattress (if you have one or can borrow one)
• Toilet articles, soap, towel, etc... (there will be showers)
• Casual dress

WHAT NOT TO BRING: Schoolbooks, radios, CD/MP3 players, pets, illegal drugs, weapons, alcohol, cigarettes. Cell phones must be turned off over the weekend.

Happening does not impose any new type of spirituality but provides a place where a young person's spirituality can be nourished and shared in fellowship with other Christians in Godly fellowship.
